{BDIB:: Red}

14 Feb

Happy Valentines Day!!  In honor of this pink & red holiday, I went with my red denim pants & blush over-sized top for this Bloggers Do it Better “Red” challenge.  I know everyone has mixed feelings about this “love holiday”, but I’m excited to get to be with my valentine tomorrow!!  We get five days together, and I CAN’T WAIT!  I hope, whether celebrating with your other half, family or just a bunch of single friends…your all surrounded with lots of love. XO

{BDIB:: Sequins}

6 Jan

I have to be honest, this Bloggers Do It Better was tough for me.  Sequins– aren’t something I own a lot of!  Here is my shopping rule:: if I need to take insurance out on it for fear that I’ll ruin it with one wear- I don’t buy it, and sequins happen to be in that category.  I did find this sheer tank that I bought about a year ago.  I thought it’d be fun to layer it with a chambray top & fun pants.

Another confession, this was the first time I had to use my new tripod & remote, and I must say, I didn’t like it!  I missed having my great photographers {my roomies} make me laugh and “work it”.   Fellow bloggers, I need suggestions?!  Do any of you use a tripod & remote?  Teach me the ways!  How do you create fun angles & shots?  Do you just rely on the cropping?  Also, what in the world do you do with the remote while you shoot?! UGH!

{BDIB:: Military Chic}

22 Nov

This edition of  Bloggers Do It Better is right up my alley:: Military Chic.  I can’t say I dress military everyday, but I sure do think about the military & my military man everyday!  {I’d share a picture of him in his officer uniform, but he’s be SO MAD! haha  He doesn’t even like me talking about it…so shhh!}  I love the classic equipment blouse.  I’d love to have one in every color!  I paired this blouse with my Jcrew olive minnie pant & my black riding boots for a classic miltary chic::

{H&M Blouse, Jcrew minnie pants, Jcrew riding boots, Jcrew bracelets, MK handbag, Jcrew wool coat}

I love the shoulder detailing on this blouse.  It reminds me of the ranking patch on Patrick’s uniform.

Yet again, Bloggers Do It Better, never disappoints.  With the animal print trend on the rise, the fabulous Kristina, from Pretty Shiny Sparkly, choose animal print for this BDIB challenge.  I have to say, this season, you see all sorts of animal print…everywhere!  I have collected a few pieces here & there, but my most recent piece is this beautiful silk leopard print scarf from Jcrew.  If you follow me on Instagram (simplesophistication), then you saw my OOTD post last weekend.  I had so many comments asking about the details of my outfit.  I decided to blog about my OOTD for this Bloggers Do It Better challenge.

{love how long & wide this scarf is}

I decided that since the theme was animal print, I had to incorporate my little pups; Beau & Bella.  They are brother and sister, and little Ms. Bella is the Queen of this pack! (some would say she even has ME wrapped around her little paw!)

My favorite animal fur that I own, my vintage Miller & Rhoads shaw.

{Effortless}

Happy Friday!  It’s finally the weekend.  For some reason, this has felt like a long week!  Maybe that’s because I am so excited for NEXT Friday…Georgia weekend with Pat!!  I’m so excited to get to spend the weekend together.  I normally don’t do this many “fashion” posts on myself in one week, but this week there are a few blogging events I am participating in.  Today’s event is Bloggers Do It Better with Pretty Shiny Sparkly.  I really enjoyed this post!  Anyway, I wanted to share one of my favorite trends this spring/summer season:: the maxi skirt.

There is something about a long maxi skirt that makes you feel so feminine & pretty- yet it’s SO easy to throw on!  The maxi skirt is like the sweat pants of dressing up! You can wear them for everything: lounging around, running errands, shopping, girls nights, etc.

{H&M crop top, Boutique maxi skirt, Old Navy wedges}

{my stack:: Jcrew bangles, DIY bracelet}

This is one of my favorite looks this summer…flowy, comfortable and effortless!  I hope you enjoyed and feel inspired to join in on the maxi! Enjoy your weekend. XO
